B.C. Trans Mountain pipeline leak small, but ill-timed
June 13, 2013
Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP said it turned off the Trans Mountain oil pipeline after discovering what it initially estimated to be about 12 barrels, or roughly two cubic metres, of spilled crude while conducting maintenance in a remote area near Kingsvale, B.C.

CP Rail sues province to reclaim resource rights

'Weather bombs,' not twisters, threat to B.C.
Climate change is more likely to result in other weather phenomena, such as more frequent and stronger hurricanes or cycles of severe drought and flooding. Weather patterns on the B.C. coast largely inoculate the region against violent cyclones because cool air coming off the Pacific Ocean prevents stagnant heat from accumulating . . . but the region is not immune to more severe weather brought on by climate change.

B.C. should cap gas sector growth, report says
The report describes B.C.'s pursuit of shale gas development, including exclusive access to water and lax regulations for greenhouse gas emissions, as 'reckless.'
